DOLPH CECILIA MARCEL

My name is Cecilia Dolph, I'm 27 years old, and I'm from the state of Vermont in the U.S.. I enjoy listening to music, reading books, and traveling. I first came to Japan when I was in middle school, and I have been studying and learning about Japan and Japanese ever since.

I am very thankful for this scholarship. Ever since starting graduate school, I've been worried about money for living expenses, paying my rent, and finding a part-time job that pays well enough. Recently, I have even been considering borrowing money from my parents or getting a loan. Money was always in the back of my mind and I haven't been able to focus fully on my studies because of it. This scholarship has taken a great weight off of my shoulders and I am grateful for the generosity of the Parents' Association.

Now that I am more able to focus on my studies, I plan on spending my last semester at Sophia University writing my thesis and looking for a job. I hope to find a job in Japan and to be able to continue living here. Although I am not sure what I want to do for work yet, I want to use the knowledge I've gained at Sophia for my job in the future.
