受給者レポート:留学生修学支援奨学金

Being from South East Asia, coming to Japan has been an extremely enriching experience. After experiencing only the culture of my home country for all my life, being able to experience such a unique culture, unlike any other in the world, is like a breath of fresh air. However, it is not just the traditional practices that intrigue me, the way that lessons are conducted at Sophia are also vastly different from those from home and makes learning a much more fascinating experience. That is why I am truly grateful for the scholarship, as it allows me to focus on learning.

As a major in International Business and Economics, I plan to find a job in Japan’s business sector upon graduation. In recent years, many people have been emphasizing change to the Japanese way of working, pushing for a shift towards a more westernized style of work. I too, hope to be one of these agents of change myself, pushing forwards towards a working environment where people are not overworked to the point where they collapse. However, amidst this scramble to “globalize” the workplace, I feel that it is imperative to keep in mind that as the workplace advances forward, it does not leave behind its Japanese roots.
