KHANT KYI MIN

Originally, I am from Myanmar and currently, a freshman from Faculty of Liberal Arts at Sophia University. I am deeply grateful to Sophia University Benefactors for choosing me as one of the recipients of Sophia Student’s Dormitory Scholarship.

As a privately financed international student in Japan, I find it difficult to manage my studies and deal with financial difficulty at the same time. Worrying about the financial difficulty can sometimes cause me depression, and also distract me from fully concentrating on my academic activities. However, I believe that the scholarship I have received will lessen the financial burden which I have been experiencing, and thereby reduces my financial stress and allows me to enhance my academic performance in the future.

In the following years at Faculty of Liberal Arts in Sophia University, I would like to major in Social Studies because I am interested in sociology and how the human society functions. By majoring in Social Studies, I aim to explore and study the society we live in, and eventually learn how to contribute to solving social issues which people are facing.

Upon graduation, I would like to work in an international organization in Japan such as JICA, to acquire job skills and experience, so that one day when I return to Myanmar, I can apply these skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of Myanmar, specifically in the areas of education and social welfare which I am largely interested in.
